    		<position_title>Specialist Project Officer - Drug and Alcohol/General Practice (Drought Mental Health Assistance Program)</position_title>
    		<role>The Drought Mental Health Assistance Program (DMHAP) is a NSW Health initiative focused on helping to meet the mental health needs of people in the bush, particularly in light of the drought. DMHAP 2008 will build on the knowledge gained, and infrastructure developed during the 2006-2007 program with a greater emphasis on: (1) Identifying drought related mental health needs of Aboriginal communities and any potential pilot programs to address these. (2) Improving early intervention strategies and pathways to drug and alcohol services and increasing the participation of General Practitioners in the improvement of mental health-related networks and services for rural communities. (3) Identifying the emerging mental health needs of rural families including young people, women and older farmers due to drought and environmental events. Developing and, where possible, implementing and evaluating programs to help address these needs. </role>
