Library tours & orientation

The library regularly runs orientations for new staff and students, to familiarise them with the library and available resources. Library tours/orientations can be arranged on demand.

Computer access

Computer access is available in the library. There are currently four computers available which have full Internet access, including access to the CIAP database. Staff, students and members of the public are allowed computer access but there are some restrictions. Please check with the librarian.

Photocopying and Printing

Photocopying and printing is available to staff, students and members of the public. The cost of photocopying and printing is 10 cents per copy. There is also a scanner held outside the library if patrons wish to scan items.

Interlibrary Loans

Interlibrary loans of books and journal articles are available to CRRMH and Western NSW Local Health District staff. Allow up to five working days, depending on the item, before pickup.

Should you require an item from another library, the librarian will arrange a loan or article request for you. This service is available at no charge but restrictions apply.

Information Skills Training

Information skills training is available to staff, which may include:

(1) Library orientation and use of library catalogue, including basic and advanced searching

(2) CIAP databases, including advanced searching techniques

(4) Using Endnote

(5) Other related search engines

Training can be arranged for individuals or small groups. Please contact the librarian via email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or by phone on (02)6363 8450 to set up a time which is suitable.

Literature Searches

The librarian can perform literature searches for staff involving detailed research on a particular topic. This can include sending patrons appropriate citations and abstracts and full text articles if required. Please contact the library as above.

Endnote Tutorials

Many staff require help using and navigating Endnote. The librarian is able to provide training in the  use of Endnote.

Daily News/Media Alerts and Journal Table of Contents

The library provides an email alert service which includes articles relevant to rural and remote mental health from daily newspapers, online media and online journal email alerts.

The CRRMH subscribes to a wide variety of mental health and medical journals. The library sends copies of selected journals’ table of contents pages as they are received in the library.

Library Brochures and Guides

The John Hoskin Library provides hard copy brochures which give details about the library and library services, which are freely available to staff, students and members of the public. In addition there is a current List of journal holdings, which includes information about hard copy and electronic access of journals held within the library.
